Dax Victorino Films in 9.034 seconds:
Your story + Your style and personalities + Our cinematic and relaxed storytelling = Your Cinematic Legacy
Glad you made it!
We’re not into talking about ourselves but if we want to work well together, we need to make sure we get to know each other. So we’ll start first:
You might be wondering why we have two people in the photo above and that this team is named only after Dax. This is because in the beginning, Dax Victorino Films was a one man operation by Dax Victorino, with wife Pao (‘Pow’ as in ‘Pow Wow’) helping him with post production over Skype and Facebook.
By June 2014, Pao officially ends our 6 year long distance relationship to relocate from the Philippines to Reno, joining at the helm as a full time husband and wife wedding film maker team. While our adventure base is in the Biggest Little City, we also travel regularly to Lake Tahoe and anywhere to capture genuine love stories in a cinematic but un-manufactured way.
Now with our powers from our experiences as corporate videographers, photographers, musicians and graphic designers combined, we hand craft films with great musicality and aesthetics for good hearted, fun and adventurous people in love.
Here’s a secret: a film storyteller’s job is not just limited to producing your great heirloom film. He or she needs to make sure you’ll have a great experience every step of the way!
“Josh and I couldn’t be happier with your work. You are simply phenomenal. Your team is great too!
Cinematography is really important to us and our wedding video turned out better than we could have ever imagined! It is perfect! You and your team are very professional and thorough. More importantly, we didn’t even feel as if there were cameras following us around. It’s as if you were invisible so you really captured the REAL moments.
We will definitely recommend you to our friends and family. Thank you for your hard work and for perfectly capturing our special day and turning it into a mini movie!”
“Dax was professional and always courteous. I feel myself around him and his camera. He is fun to work with – how can you not have fun when the guy is always smiling?
Thanks to Dax and his wonderful job of video editing, my husband and I can look back and play that video over and over again to remind us exactly what happened on our wedding day. So much fun working with you and a pleasure!”
“Dax has amazing talent and skills capturing and telling stories that will last a lifetime.
He has an incredible lens behind the camera and makes his films look so effortlessly edited and captures touching moments that tell a story. Dax filmed my wedding and it was my pleasure to work with him and have him capture my special day.
I highly recommend Dax for any event you want to have captured on film.”
How did you edit all that footage down so fast! You are the Speedy Gonzales of video!
After the wedding we went backpacking in Yosemite all week, so your film was a HUGE SURPRISE to come back to and totally made our day! You did SUCH an incredible job capturing all those fun and spontaneous moments I was worried wouldn’t be captured in photographs. I especially love the dynamic way you put the film together with dancing, laughing, fun moments and sweet romantic moments all wrapped up together- not your average wedding film, that’s for sure!
I love that we have such a beautiful keepsake from our wedding and I smile ear-to-ear every time I watch this- just wait until Clayton’s mom sees of it, she’s going to LOVE IT!
Thank you so much for being so amazing, you are incredibly talented! We LOVE the video and we are recommending you to everyone who will listen!”
“Thank you for working with us and producing such an incredible wedding video. We will enjoy it for many years to come.
We have received SO MANY great compliments on it, everybody loves how you captured the real spirit of the day and all the fun moments.
We can’t imagine not hiring you.
Love & Happiness”
-CLAYTON & CHAZ
“I’m so glad to have met with Dax. My fiancé and I did not initially intend to hire a cinematographer for our upcoming wedding. A friend, one of my bridesmaids, actually recommended that we should have the event captured on film, and she then mentioned Dax Victorino. My bridesmaid insisted that we meet with this cinematographer, as all she has was good praises about him.
I was of course, intrigued and finally convinced to give this guy a call. Our initial meeting with Dax went quite well. I was prepared for a usual vendor/client meeting, but Dax surprised me with his friendly yet professional attitude; we definitely developed a good rapport upon that first meeting.
Dax is utterly talented and the amount of dedication he has for his field shows in his work. This guy has passion, and very much driven for perfection. Dax listens to his clients wants and needs and exceeds one’s expectations. During filming, he made us feel so much relaxed and comfortable that half of the time I didn’t even know that he’s filming. Everyone that has seen our mini save-the-date video have been amazed by this guy’s creation.
Hiring Dax is definitely worth the investment. Thank you Dax for always giving us your 110% . Donald and I are so glad to have met you; both as a cinematographer and as an added bonus, a dear friend”.
OK, here’s a short version:
Our filming style is cine-journalistic and we produce personality-soaked, dialogue-filled and story-driven short-form wedding films. We offer peace of mind that your wedding films will be thoughtfully done right for the present and the future.
Long version for when you’re in somewhere comfy:
Because more than being camera operators and high tech gear hoarders, our focus foremost is always in your story as a couple and the essence of your special day.
OUR PHILOSOPHY AND PASSION
Our philosophy is not to make a wedding video just for videos’ sake; we create heirloom films about you and your day. We believe that the strongest legacy you can have is a happy marriage. And so we aim to craft with you an authentic multi-sensory living reminders of your promises to take you through the ups and downs of your future journeys as spouses.
More than video documentation, our passion also lies in making you a breathing time capsule of your beauty, spirit and love…the things you will want to show off your grand kids someday!
AND HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS HAPPEN FOR YOU
How can we do this without making your film boring? We let you live your day (this is where our journalistic style come in), while thoughtfully preserving your moments in your own short form movie (and this is where the ‘cine’ in cine-journalistic is from).
We understand that cinematic films are not for everyone, but here are things to think about if it will be a right investment of time and money for you:
Would you savor seeing, feeling AND hearing your wedding moments come to life again years after your special day?
Are you into heirloom quality work and will not settle for badly recorded audio and shaky footage of your day?
Are you planning to have kids in the future and would like them to experience your day without sentencing them to watch hours long video? Or maybe you just cannot see yourselves watching an 8 hour+ long wedding more than once?
Are you working hard making sure your big day is the best you can make it to be, and you would like your wedding film do it justice?
At the end of the day, it is still your decision. If you still feel you’d like a wedding film done cinematically, then read on!
A Same Day Edit (SDE) is a 3-5 minute mini movie of your wedding, filmed and premiered on the same day.
This is how we do it: We film from the preps to the earlier parts of your reception. We’ll continue filming but Dax will be on ninja-sage mode to edit all of the footage so you can show the finished product at the last part of your reception dinner.
Couples love this because they get to treat themselves and their guests to a cinematically woven preview of the awesomeness that transpired that same day.
Here is a sample of the Same Day Edit experience from one of our weddings. The guests and the bride didn’t know about the SDE before but you can see that they were in for a surprise one by one.
Here’s a quick note from a different groom about their SDE:
“The same day video blew everyone at the wedding away. They couldn’t believe you were able to cut all that together during the wedding! You gained 250 fans last night!”
No and no. We are a short form full service wedding cinema team so that means we don’t capture every second of your day but only the ones you will care about.
Here’s another 0ne to think about: Hollywood takes 10-12 months (or more) to shoot and produce a film then whittle all those footage down into a compelling movie. That’s what we’ll do with your wedding. We’ll take the best ones of your day and we will thoughtfully edit all in a non-boring and digestible format.
That’s not to say all your wedding day will be condensed in only few minutes! We would be bummed too if that’s the case! With that in mind, we create a variety of film versions with different lengths for when you wanted to see your full ceremony and toasts. Setup a quick meeting with us to learn more!
Yes and no.
We also filmed a small civil wedding but with our style of filming, we combined their engagement film with their ceremony to have incredible content for a full heirloom film. Experience it here.
However, if you’re looking for camera operators for ceremony only or reception only footage, we’re not for you. This is because we wouldn’t have much content to work with to create a great cinematic film.
We get ya! This is why we’ll invest time in getting to know you well so we can be sure that we will not be strangers by the time of your wedding.
For this reason, we also have engagement film sessions as cinematography icebreakers! This will be a great way to ease up to the camera in a casual environment and acquaint us where you’re comfiest (and, hey, your most telegenic too) before your wedding day.
Nope. But we don’t hold your raw footage hostage, we give it free with a commission of a 10-15 minute Feature Film if requested.
We want to make sure we capture you and your guests authentically as possible, so no putting blinding lights in their faces, and definitely NO harassing them with intrusive cameras and boom mics for messages.
We’re going for the real human emotions, not deer-in-the-headlights faces in your film.
Wherever you’ll get married, we’ll be there!
There are NO travel fees for weddings in Reno and Lake Tahoe.
Yes for Reno, Lake Tahoe and California weddings.
For weddings that require flying or extensive travelling outside Reno, Lake Tahoe and California, we will require a baggage fee.
Our usual team is usually composed of three awesome cinematographers (Dax, Pao and an associate cinematographer). The minimum for a very small wedding will be two.
Yep. Even backups of backups.
We offer archival USB keys instead so that your films will be in their best High Definition format compared to Standard Definition you get with a DVD.
We do, since we will license the music to avoid copyright infringement and also make sure that the music will complement the feel of your wedding day.
If there is a specific song that’s very meaningful for you, let us know and we’ll see if we can license it!
Shorter films like Same Day Edits and Highlights will be ready for you to share online within 4-8 weeks after your wedding. Longer films will take us 3-5 months and will be delivered to your doorsteps packaged like a gift.
In order to protect both our behinds, yes we do.
You wouldn’t like us when we’re hungry. Just kidding. It would be lovely if you do otherwise we might faint during your wedding!
Our wedding film experiences for Reno and Lake Tahoe begin at $2500, with most of our couples investing between $3300-$7500. All collections include an archival USB key in an heirloom quality jewel case, Cinematic Highlights, minimum of 2 cinematographers (more angles, more great footage!), and up to 10 hours of coverage.
For wedding locations outside Reno and Tahoe, we charge a modest travel fee and usually include specials, so please contact us for more details to see what we will come up with together.
Of course! We usually keep footage for 5 months after your wedding. You can upgrade within that time frame.
We accept Paypal, credit cards and checks. And yes for payment plans!
You bet! We have an overtime rate that will only be added in with YOUR permission and approval.
We’re so sorry, we can’t. To be fair to everyone, we only accept bookings on a first come/first serve basis. To officially book your date, we will need a signed agreement and a $1000 retainer fee.
If you’ve made it here, we’re going to assume that your wedding cinematography is important to you and that you’re not just crossing out a list just to have a wedding video done for video’s sake.
We take on a very limited number of weddings a year because we want to inspire our couples and in return be inspired by them. With that in mind, it is very important for us that you’ll have the right team for your day, even if it’s not us.
This is why we like to setup a casual meet and greet in person or over Skype so we know if we’re a perfect match.
If we think we’ll make a great team together, we’ll sign our agreement online and need a $1000 retainer fee to get our journey with you started.
